Bali, Indonesia- Land of Offerings and Beaches

Bali is one of the most apt place for relaxation away from hustle and bustle of city life, and added advantage is that this destination is not heavy on pockets. Many honeymooners flock around the city and why not when it provides the best of lodging and luxury. Cold spell of weather and showers continued to remain through our stay in the mid week of December, 2013. We booked our stay in Seminyak, away from city life, which had varied options for spas and high end boutiques to shop from.

@ Seminyak

People of Bali are very warm and welcoming and very religious too. Highly populated with Hindusim religion, you would be greeted with a warm "Namaskar" and all your way; you would witness number of temples and huge sculptures with scenes from the Mahabharata and Bhagavad Gita including idols of Lord Ganesha. Their faith in religion is very evident with number of shlokas with which they greet and welcome the guests in the city. One such most beautiful and pious is Ulun Danu Beratan Temple, a Balinese Hindu Temple. This is worth every visit.

The city is lush green and beautiful and Ubud’s Monkey forest is one the examples. Though with nothing much to see than for moneky’s ;) you would enjoy the green lawns, ancient sculptures of tropical animals and birds. Those who love to shop, can head to shopping area in and around the perimeters of Ubud Village. Bali is known for its batik work on dress materials and batik museum in Bali displays its expertise in the work. Other such amazing stuff includes wooden and cane objects, leather goods etc. One of such curios I couldn't resist buying:

Romeo and Juliet of Bali

Ancient Sculptures

Monkey Garden :D
The most visited and the most happening beach "Kuta" is within few kilometers of Seminyak, to get a hang of night life you must head to it. You would also get many open restaurants on your way to Kuta with live music being played on.Some of the cuisines we binged on were “Nasi Goreng –Indonesia Fried Rice” and “Mie Gorenge-Indonesia fried noodles”. You can have these in veg option as well.

Tips:
  •       Bargaining works wonders everywhere
  •       Climate enquiry before you go would work in your favor
  •       Suites booking in advance is advisable
  •       Splitting of stay in Ubud and Seminyak
  •       Enjoy Spas and engage in shopping
  •       Home delivery options are at avail in most of restaurants there.
